Press Release Regarding The Terrorist Attack In Somalia

Republic Of Turkey Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 25.01.2017

No: 25, 25 January 2017

We have regretfully learned that the terrorist attack on “Dahay Hotel” earlier today (25 January) in Mogadishu, has claimed at least 10 lives and injured many others. We strongly condemn this act of terrorism.

The attack apparently targets the stabilization process of the country following the Federal Parliament elections that have recently been concluded. We strongly believe that terrorist attacks, such as the one perpetrated today, cannot derail Somalia’s progress in ensuring stability.

We wish God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, convey our condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wish speedy recovery to the wounded.

Turkey will resolutely continue doing its part in ensuring peace and stability in Somalia and stand by the brotherly Somali people.
