We welcome the political will stated in the Panmunjom Declaration by the South and North Korean leaders for reducing tensions and establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula at the Inter-Korean Summit Meeting held in the border village of Panmunjom on 27 April, 2018.
The smooth progress of the diplomatic process aimed at creating an environment of confidence and nuclear disarmament on the Korean Peninsula will be an important window of opportunity for peace bothregionally and globally. We congratulate Moon Jae-in, the President of the Republic of Korea for his special efforts in this processsince coming into office.
Bearing in mind her special historical ties, Turkey will continue to support efforts towards establishing peace, stability, and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula, and will encourage the parties in the period ahead.
