No:16, 27 January 2019, Press Release Regarding The Explosions At A Cathedral In Southern Philippines
We strongly condemn the heinous terror attack against a cathedral in Jolo, on the Sulu island in southern Philippines today which resulted in death of at least 27 people and wounding more than 70.
We believe that this attack, which was carried out less than a week after the referandum in southern Philippines to establish a lasting peace in the region, will not achieve its aim of harming intercommunal peace in the face of the common will of the people in the region.
We share the grief of people of Philippines on this sad occasion and send our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish speedy recovery to the wounded.
Turkey will continue to stand with Philippines in its fight against terrorism, and to contribute to the peace process in southern Philippines.
